Day 18 - Love Seeks to Understand

“Wise men store up knowledge, but with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand” (Proverbs 10:14).
Understanding the person we are with is something just as important as communication. When we first start dating we strive to get to know the person we are with. What the like, what the hate, and all that jazz. But when we are together for so long you start to lose interest in that person like you had in the beginning. You stop trying to learn about the person you are with.  Proverbs 18:15 says "The ear of the wise seeks knowledge."

In my case it's not that I want to know him any less then what I did. It's that I have got so used to being called ignorant when I speak that I don't see any point talking. It is a difficult cycle to break. I know I need to pray about it because through God all things are possible. Proverbs 2:6 says "The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding."

I think the hardest thing is wanting Chris to know me...really know me not the person I used to be or the person he thinks I am and yet him not wanting to. “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches”(Proverbs 24:3-4). So what happens when there is old knowledge and never any new added? If you are in college and you drop out only to return a couple of years later you can't use the same text books as before because they will be outdated the same as your relationship will be.

"Acquire wisdom; and with all your acquiring, get understanding." (Proverbs 4:7)

Today’s Dare

Prepare a special dinner at home, just for the two of you.
The dinner can be as nice as you prefer.
Focus this time on getting to know your spouse better,
perhaps in areas you’ve rarely talked about.
Determine to make it an enjoyable evening for you and your mate.
